The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), a new regional-concept basketball league which is a brainchild of Senator Manny Pacquiao, has chosen ABS-CBN Sports and Action channel to broadcast the games of its inaugural conference.

The contract signing was held last Wednesday, January 10, with the league being represented by its Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes, Asst. Commissioner Satar Macantal, Team Coordinator Emerson Oreta, Operations Head Zaldy Realubit and ALV Events Chairman Arnold Vegafria. On hand to represent the network were ABS-CBN Sports head Dino Laurena, ABS-CBN CFO Aldrin Cerrado and S+A channel head Vince Rodriguez.

Games will be shown live on S+A channel 23 every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 7:00pm to 11:00pm.

“We would like to thank Sports and Action and ABS-CBN for this. There’s a lot of talent na mabibigyan ng chance,” MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes said shortly after the contract signing ceremony.

The league, currently composed of seven teams – Bulacan Kuyas, Yakimix Paranaque Green Berets, Caloocan Supremos, Valenzuela Classic, Tanduay Athletics Batangas, Muntinlupa Cagers and Navotas Clutch, has a home-and-away format similar to the now-defunct MBA and is set to open on January 25, 2018 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
