A day after shipping rookie Von Pessumal to San Miguel Beer for seldom-used freshman Arnold Van Opstal, GlobalPort coach Franz Pumaren made it clear that he’s not done another vital piece for the Batang Pier.
In fact, the veteran PBA mentor shared that management is currently working on a deal that could possibly reunite him with veteran guard Ryan Arana at GlobalPort.
Unknown to many, the left-handed Arana played under Pumaren during their UAAP days in La Salle over a decade ago.
The 34-year-old Arana, who won a championship with Rain or Shine in 2012 and with another with San Miguel Beer last year, averaged 6.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists for Mahindra this season.
“I think management is discussing it (in acquiring Arana), but he was part of my wish list. Hopefully, he can play for us because more or less, he knows my style and I know his strength,” said Pumaren. “I think I can maximize him.” – FOX Sports Asia
