Denied of closing the series in Game 4, San Miguel Alab Pilipinas takes another crack at winning the 2017-18 ASEAN Basketball League title when it takes on stubborn Mono Vampire of Thailand on Wednesday, May 2, 8:00pm at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna.
The Philippine squad failed to secure the crown on its first attempt, no thanks to the heads up play of Filipino Paul Zamar and Fil-Am Jason Brickman.
Brickman played the entire 40 minutes and came up with 13 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Zamar chipped in 11 including the dagger floater with only 17 seconds left in the game that gave the home team a 5-point lead, 88-83.
Back-to-back ABL Local MVP Ray Parks paced Alab anew with 21 points.
World imports Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman contributed 18 points apiece but the duo was responsible for 15 of the team’s season-high 26 turnovers.
Alab is gunning for its first-ever title in its two-year franchise history and the country’s first since 2013.
