The Alaska Aces are set to bring back former reinforcement Diamon Simpson after Antonio Campbell was called up by the Orlando Magic to play for their team in the NBA Summer League.
The 30-year old Simpson arrived last Friday and will suit up for the Aces’ final game of the elimination round in the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup against a Phoenix team battling for its tournament life. He last played for Alaska during the 2010 Fiesta Cup and led the team to the championship.
The Aces dropped their last 2 games with Capmbell in tow after going on a conference-best 7-game winning streak.
The Meralco Bolts stopped them on their tracks before Brgy. Ginebra gave the team its worst beating in the conference. The Aces absorbed their 3rd defeat and fell into a tie with TNT for 2nd place with identical 7-3 records. A win over the struggling Fuel Masters will cement the team’s hold on the top 2 seed which carries a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
Aside from the import change, Alaska also tweaked its local line-up by reactivating Jeron Teng in lieu of Davon Potts who has been relegated to the team’s Injured/Reserve list.
Teng has been out for the past few weeks recovering from a stabbing incident last June.
