Andray Blatche to suit up for China once again in FIBA Asia Champions Cup

Andray Blatche will once again join the Philippine national basketball team on the court. Although this time, not as teammates but as part of the opposition.

The naturalized player of Gilas Pilipinas will suit up once again for Xinjiang Flying Tigers, his mother ballclub in the Chinese Basketball League, which will carry the name China Kashgar in the 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup.

Blatche led the Chinese team in the 2016 edition of the tournament with averages of 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists.

Team Pilipinas will be bannered by Chooks-to-Go for the annual Asian inter-club tournament.

Christian Standhardinger, Kiefer Ravena and Ray Parks are expected to lead the team along with Raymar Jose and Kobe Paras, pending clearance from his school.

DLSU and PBA D-League standout Jeron Teng is also being considered for the team as well as UP’s Jett Manuel.

Gilas team manager Butch Antonio said that there will be no PBA players of the team which will be handled by Chot Reyes and assisted by Jong Uichico.
