Game 3 of the semifinal series between popular sister teams San Miguel Beermen and Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel almost went the same route sa Game 2 but timely hits by the Gin Kings coupled by rare endgame lapses by the Beermen spelled the difference as Brgy. Ginebra reduced San Miguel’s series lead to 2-1 following a 95-87 win.

Brgy. Ginebra went up by as much as 14 points and nearly succumbed once more in the end to the furious SMB rally if not for crucial baskets by Prince Caperal, Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio.

The Beermen, though, still had their chances but lapses and missed attempts ruined their chances of another comeback.

San Miguel team captain Arwind Santos, however, still remained upbeat after the loss.

“Ako masasabi ko sa game na ‘to, nakakatawa. Muntik pa sila,” said the 12-year veteran during the post-game interview.

When pressed to comment on what went wrong for the Beermen in Game 3, Santos gave a cryptic reply.

“What went wrong? Parang may mga shadow yung mga players kanina eh. Parang yung lima nagiging walo. Parang ganun eh. Kaya parang nahihirapan kami bantayan kasi lima lang yung kalaban, pero nagiging walo. Ewan ko kung sobrang bilis kaya may shadow.”

Santos finished the game with 13 points but shot a dismal 1 out of 6 from long distance.

Game 4 of the series is scheduled on Thrusday, March 15, 7:00pm at the MOA Arena.
