For the second straight game, the NLEX Road Warriors tried to mount a rally in the fourth quarter to make up for their sub-par effort in the first three. For the second straight time, they fell short and now this nightmare of a conference stretches on for the wards of coach Yeng Guiao.
The Road Warriors, who were down by as much as 18 points in the game, cut their deficit down to 4, 102-98, with 1:26 remaining in the contest. The Blackwater Elite gave the only winless team in the conference a chance to finally score one.
Wayne Chism got a clean look from three but he missed. Kevin Alas had a decent layup attempt but he also missed. Chism tip-in. Miss. Jansen Rios three. Miss.
After all of those wasted opportunities for NLEX, Greg Smith grabbed his 18th rebound of the game and Mark Cruz sealed Blackwater’s win with a couple of free throws, 104-98, Wednesday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. – Sports5
