Reinforcements are coming in for struggling Blackwater in the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Elite earned the services of veteran gunner KG Canaleta from GlobalPort and nabbed diminutive guard Mark Cruz from the free agent pool in pair of bold moves on Wednesday that they hope could help them salvage their title campaign in the mid-season tournament.
Still winless after three starts in the import-spiced tournament, Blackwater sent seldom-used forwards Dylan Ababou and James Forrester to the Batang Pier in exchange for the 6-foot-6 Canaleta, who could help fill up the offensive slack left by promising forward Art Dela Cruz who ruptured his Achilles tendon while practicing with Gilas Pilipinas nearly two weeks ago.
Blackwater is also counting big on the 5-foot-5 Cruz, who will make his return to the pro ranks after making a good account of himself in the PBA D-League Aspirant’s Cup. – FOX Sports Asia
