Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel has fortified its bid for a playoff spot in the ongoing 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup by trading for one of the league’s deadliest shooters, Jeffrei Allan Chan.
The Gin Kings, fresh from a morale-boosting win over Manila Clasico rival Magnolia Hotshots Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, struck a deal with Phoenix for the former Gilas Pilipinas standout.
The Fuel Masters received Brgy. Ginebra’s 1st round pick in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft in exchange for the lefty sharp shooter.
The 34-year old native of Bacolod City is currently averaging 11.5 points per game on top of 4.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals.
Chan was drafted 17th overall by Barako Bull in 2008. He played eight years (2009 to 2017) for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and won 2 championships with the Yeng Guiao-mentored squad – 2012 Governors and 2016 Commissioner’s. He was adjudged as the Finals MVP in 2012 title win.
He was traded to Phoenix last August 2017 for Mark Borboran and the Fuel Masters’ second round pick in the 2020 Rookie Draft.
