Star had opened the Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup with four straight wins before running into the Ginebra buzzsaw in this one.

Import Justin Brownlee did a little bit of everything as he scored 30 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, dished out six assists and blocked four shots in an all-around performance for the Kings, who improved to 2-1.

LA Tenorio provided some additional firepower for Ginebra, going for 21 points on 9-for-14 shooting while Sol Mercado contributed 15 points from off the bench, including eight in a crucial fourth quarter run.

Star import Tony Mitchell came around late, scoring half of his 22 points in the final period but Allein Maliksi sputtered in the second half, shooting just 1-for-7 on his field goal attempts after a big first half performance. –
