Alaska continued its blistering run at the turn of the year by pulling off a 93-75 rout of Phoenix in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup, Wednesday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

After dropping its first 2 games to close 2017, the Aces have now now 5 straight and are still undefeated in 2018.

The Fuel Masters, who failed to sustain the momentum of their 87-82 conquest of Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel, saw its record drop to 3-4.

Calvin Abueva returned to the line-up after missing their previous game against Blackwater due to a personal emergency and provided the much-needed energy in leading the Aces to victory.

‘The Beast’, who now sports jersey number 88, scattered 21 points, hauled down 14 rebounds and 4 had steals.

“May nangyari sa akin at sa pamilya ko last week. Habang may problema, pinaghandaan ko ng husto ang game na ito, at ipinakita ko kung sino talaga ako,” said Abueva.

Chris Banchero, Vic Manuel, Simon Enciso and come-backing Noy Baclao also dished out solid performances for the streaking Aces.

Shooters Matthew Wright and Jeff Chan paced the Fuel Masters with 16 and 14 points respectively.
