Just days after getting the boot from Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes for missing three straight team practices, Calvin Abueva goes on missing again, this time for Alaska’s game vesus Blackwater, Saturday afternoon at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

‘The Beast’ was seen warming up with the team prior to its match against the Elite but was nowhere to be found come game time.

According to reports, the 29-year old native of Angeles City, Pampanga informed Alaska coach Alex Compton that he won’t be able to play for the team as he had to go due to a personal emergency.

Compton later confirmed that Abueva indeed asked permission to leave.

“Alaska has always been family. I would never get in the way of somebody who’s taking care of something that’s important to their family. I hope you guys would appreciate the private and internal nature of that.” said Compton during the post-game interview.

Compton didn’t give any specifics as to why Abueva left before the game and is uncertain how long it would take for ‘The Beast’ to sort things out and return to active duty for the team.
