The much awaited debut of the top overall pick of the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft finally got underway as the 28-year old Fil-German attended his first practice.
Christian Standhardinger, fresh from his first and possibly last stint in the Asean Basketball League, showed up for the Beermen’s first practice session for the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup at the Acropolis Gym in Quezon City.
Absent from the two-hour practice were June Mar Fajardo, Arwind Santos, Marcio Lassiter and Alex Cabagnot. Chris Ross was present but didn’t participate as he was still recovering from a strained right thigh.
Standhardinger thanked his ABL team through an Instagram story post.
“It was a pleasure playing for the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions, we had a great journey and it was a lot of fun,” said the 6-foot-8 power forward.
The defending champion Long Lions were eliminated in the post-season play by no less than San Miguel Alab Pilipinas, denying Standhardinger of a chance to play in the Finals.
The Beermen are set to play their first game of the mid-season conference on May 9 against the Meralco Bolts.
