NLEX just kept its mastery of Alaska this season.
The Road Warriors kicked off their PBA Governors Cup campaign on Wednesday with a rousing 112-102 victory over the Aces at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as they stretched their winning streak to three against the very same team this year.
Import Aaron Fuller had a rousing debut on Philippine soil by finishing with a double-double of 30 points and 20 rebounds, and together with the guard duo of Kevin Alas and Juami Tiongson, pulled off the telling run in the final three minutes that took the fight out of the Aces.
Alas added 20 points and eight rebounds, while Tiongson had 13 in the win that marked the third time NLEX beat Alaska in the season – counting one each in the Philippine and Commissioner’s Cup.
Stirring the victory was, but NLEX coach Yeng Guiao is not about to be easily carried away.
“There’s nothing to celebrate at this point, kakaumpisa pa lang,” said Guiao, whose Road Warriors team both limped home with similar 2-9 records in the first two conferences this season.
“The real measure I guess will be after the 11 games had been played where we are at that point.”
