Getting the better of Star in their storied Manila Clasico rivalry is already enough motivation for Barangay Ginebra.
Take that from sophomore guard Scottie Thompson, who emerged as one of the spark plugs in the Gin Kings’ dominant performance in the second half en route to a 113-98 win over the Hotshots in the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The six-foot Thompson, as expected, was all over the Mall of Asia Arena court anew as he collected eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and a block while giving Ginebra the needed energy on both ends.
For Thompson, he and the rest of the Gin Kings are simply playing their “A-game” every time they take on the Hotshots.
“Doon talaga lumalabas ang A-game namin. Kaya ganado lang talaga kami lumaro against Star,” said Thompson.
“Refreshed na kaming lahat. Ibang conference ‘to pero ready naman kami palagi. Lalo na’t Manila Clasico pa.” – FOX Sports Asia
