Despite the late arrival of naturalized player Andray Blatche and the concern about chemistry, Gilas Pilipinas is now raring to show its might against the so-called title pretenders in the Southeast Asia Basketball Association (SEABA) Championship starting tomorrow at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“The players are all set, ready to compete for the title,” said Gilas team manager Butch Antonio.
“But we’re definitely ready. Concern about chemistry, well, the team is actually addressing that, and Andray has been practicing well, he’s moving well with the other guys,” added Antonio.
The 6-foot-11 Blatche, a former member of the Washington Wizards and the Brooklyn Nets, arrived Sunday morning after twice cancelling his flight. He initially promised to arrive May 2, but begged off due to a family matter.
