Finally. Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes can heave a sigh of relief.

For the first time, the Philippine national basketball team bound for Beirut Lebanon to compete in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup had a practice with 100% attendance.

Everyone on the Final 12 list showed up for the 5th day of practice. Everybody was there, including Calvin Abueva, the controversial Alaska forward who just yesterday was given an ultimatum by Reyes to either show up or lose his spot on the team.

Joining ‘The Beast’ were fellow Gilas veterans June Mar Fajardo, Gabe Norwood, Jayson Castro, Terrence Romeo and Japeth Aguilar along with Raymond Almazan, RR Pogoy, Jio Jalalon, Matthew Wright, Carl Bryan Cruz and Fil-German Christian Standhardinger.

Reyes, who is celebrating his 54th birthday tomorrow August 1, posted a video on his Twitter account of the team having a scrimmage and captioned it ‘Got an early bday wish granted – our 1st complete practice!’

Several members of the team bound for Malaysia for the 2017 SEA Games were also in attendance – Kiefer Ravena, Almond Vosotros, Ray Parks, Kobe Paras, Von Pessumal, Mike Tolomia and Raymar Jose.

Mac Belo, who is being groomed as a possible replacement for Cruz on the SEA Games team, was also present. – Mae Villarin
