The much-anticipated trade deal of the season has just been consummated.
Terrence Romeo, the flamboyant superstar long rumored to be on the way out of GlobalPort, finally got his wish granted after the team that chose him 5th overall in the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft dealt him, along with Fil-Palestine big man Yousef Taha, to TNT for Moala Tautuaa and the KaTropa’s 1st round pick in the 2020 draft and 2nd round pick in the 2021 draft.
The trade was approved Tuesday afternoon and was posted by the league on its social media accounts.
Romeo, who made public his desire to be traded, led the league in scoring the past 2 seasons. He averaged 25.4 points in 2015-16 and then followed it up with 23.2 in 2016-17. He suited up for just 3 games in the ongoing Philippine Cup after recovering from a knee injury and averaged 17 points.
The 26-year old native of Imus Cavite will join fellow FEU Tamaraws RR Garcia, RR Pogoy, Alfrancis Tamsi and coach Nash Racela as well as Gilas teammates Jayson Castro and Troy Rosario over at TNT.
Tautuaa, the top overall pick in the 2015 draft, has been a disappointment so far after failing to average in double figures in both scoring and rebounding in each of his first 2 seasons with the league. He wrapped up his TNT stint with 2018 Philippine Cup averages of 7.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
