After a splendid performance in Alab Pilipinas’ championship run in the 2017-18 ASEAN Basketball League, point guard Pao Javelona is finally taking his act to the PBA.
The 25-year old product of the National University Bulldogs just signed a one-conference deal with GlobalPort which takes effect in the ongoing 2018 Commissioner’s Cup.
Batang Pier team manager Bonnie Tan confirmed the signing of Javelona who was already present during the team’s Tuesday practice.
The 6-foot guard from Bacolod City was drafted 16th overall by the Phoenix Fuel Masters in the 2016 PBA Rookie Draft but wasn’t included in the active roster. He eventually wound up with Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League before making a splash with Alab in the ABL.
Javelona averaged 4.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in the elimination round but jacked it up in the playoffs and was instrumental in the team’s five-game romp over Mono Vampire of Thailand in the Finals.
