Greg Smith towed his Blackwater Elite to their first win of the conference as they survived Terrence Romeo and the GlobalPort Batang Pier, 118-113, in the Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Smith posted 40 points – 15 of those in a fourth quarter comeback – and grabbed 19 rebounds in another terrific performance for the import.

He did get some backup, though, as Mike Digregorio chipped in 18 points and Reil Cervantes added 14 markers. JR Sena also reached double figures with 10 points.

It was Blackwater’s first win after opening the conference with four consecutive losses. GlobalPort, meanwhile, went down to 0-4 to mirror the Elite’s rough start.

Romeo had an amazing shooting performance for GlobalPort, scoring 35 points in 30 minutes off the bench. He shot 13-for-18 from the field, going a perfect 4-for-4 from two-point range and raining down nine three-pointers on 64-percent shooting. –
