By letting go of sharpshooting big man KG Canaleta in exchange for two reserve players from Blackwater, many thought that winless GlobalPort will struggle to get the new recruits integrated to the scheme of things in their Commissioner’s Cup campaign.
But that’s not what journeyman forward Dylan Ababou had in mind during his impressive debut for the Batang Pier on Wednesday against crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra Kings.
Ababou fired 5-of-8 from the 3-point zone to finish with a season-high 17 markers while adding 3 rebounds in his first game as a Batang Pier.
“That’s why he’s (Ababou) with us because I know what he’s capable of doing,” said Pumaren after the game. “He’s still groping for form and kinda not in game shape. But he can help us down the line.”
GlobalPort though couldn’t sustain its fiery start, succumbing to Ginebra, which got a huge second-half lift from import Justin Brownlee. – FOX Sports Asia
