June Mar Fajardo, the league’s most dominant player in recent times, is not worried at all about his new teammate’s so-so PBA debut.
Christian Standhardinger, the top-overall pick of the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft, finally played his first game for the San Miguel Beermen after missing the entire Philippine Cup due to a prior commitment and finished with 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 19 minutes of action as the defending champions started their title-retention drive with a 93-85 loss to Meralco.
Despite falling short of expectations, Fajardo believes that the 28-year old Fil-German won’t take long before getting the hang of playing for the team and in the league.
As a team, the 28-year old native of Pinamungajan Cebu admits that the defending champions are still rusty with fluidity and execution still off the mark.
“Siguro first game, medyo kailangan pa namin ipractice yung chemistry. Nagkatalo lang sa last two minutes.”
The Beermen will try to enter the win column on Sunday, May 13 against Rain or Shine at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
