Kelly Nabong fined P30K, 4 referees suspended in aftermath of GlobalPort-Rain or Shine melee

The PBA handed down a total of P93,000 worth of fines in the aftermath of the fight-marred match between GlobalPort and Rain or Shine last May 20 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

GlobalPort’s Kelly Nabong and Malcom White received the biggest penalty of P30,000 and P22,000 respectively.

Nabong was fined P20,000 for shoving Maverick Ahanmisi during the commotion which was classified as a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 (FFP2) and an additional P10,000 for flashing the dirty finger.

White was fined P20,000 for hitting Chris Tiu with a wayward elbow that resulted in a busted lip and an additional P2,000 for rushing to the fight scene.

Ahanmisi was fined P15,000 for shoving Sean Anthony who was trying to pry the ball out of Beau Belga’s hands.

Moala Tauatuaa was fined P10,000 for shoving the ball in the face of Ahanmisi while Raymond Almazan was fined the same amount for hitting White in a separate incident late in the game.

Jay Washington, Ryan Arana and Bradwyn Guinto were fined P2,000 each for rushing to the scene of the fight.

The 4 referees who officiated the game weren’t spared from being penalized as all were meted suspensions.

Rommel Gruta, Nol Quilinguen and Janine Nicandro were suspended for one (1) rotation while Mike Flordeliza was suspended for two (2).
