Maharalika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes has stepped into the picture right after expansion team Mandaluyong El Tigre announced through its head coach Mac Cuan that they are in the process of enlisting the services of 4 former Alab Pilipinas players.
The four are Ray Parks, Lawrence Domingo, Chris Sumalinog and JR Alabanza.
Unfortunately for the team, there is an existing league rule that prohibits teams from signing up more than 1 Fil-foreign player.
“Hindi puwedeng dalawang Fil-foreign player sa isang team,” said Duremdes in an interview with FOX Sports PH.
The former PBA MVP added that this rule was put into place to keep the focus on pure Filipino players which will undeniably bring more excitement into the games.
With this development, the team will be forced to choose between Parks and Domingo.
“His dad is an American so he’s a Fil-Am,” said Duremdes on Parks. “So goes with Domingo. Kailangan sila pumili kasi isa lang ang allowed.”
