For the sixth time since its entry into the league in 2014, the Columbian Autocar Corporation will change the name of its PBA team. From KIA Picanto, they will now be known as the Columbian Dyip.
The franchise started out as KIA Sorento, then changed its name to KIA Carnival, Mahindra Enforcer, Mahindra Floodbuster and KIA Picanto. It will carry its new name starting the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup which kicks off on April 22.
The name change was brought about by the purchase of Ayala Corporation of the Korean car maker’s distribution rights in the country.
The Picanto closed out last season with a winless Governors’ Cup campaign, losing all of its 11 games. In the 2018 Philippine Cup, they almost went the same route if not for a 98-94 win over Rain or Shine.
The team makes its conference debut on opening day against batchmate Blackwater Elite in the first game of a double-header at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
