Help is on the way for the still winless KIA Picanto in the form of a certified scorer.
The Picanto signed up free agent and two-time PBA All-Star Carlo Lastimosa to a one-conference deal.
The 27-year old product of DLS-College of St. Benilde was left out in the cold for the new season after NLEX bought out his contract. Lastimosa submitted decent averages of 8.8 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 16.9 minutes of action for the Road Warriors.
KIA will serve as the 4th PBA team of the Cagayan de Oro native and nephew of league legend Jojo Lastimosa. The younger Lastimosa spent two seasons with Barako Bull, the team which drafted him 20th overall in the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft. He was then traded to Blackwater for Brian Heruela. He was traded again after spending just one season with the Elite, ending up at NLEX together with the elder Lastimosa.
He so far has career averages of 10.0 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 17.8 minutes of playing time.
His entry is seen as a welcome development for KIA who is currently on a 16-game slide.
The Picantos take on the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Saturday, January 20 at the Cuneta Astrodome.
