Columbian Dyip only had 1 win to show during the 2018 Philippine Cup. The franchise formerly known as KIA Picanto made sure it won’t happen again in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup by nailing its 2nd win in only its 3rd game.
The Dyip opened the conference by routing Blackwater. They fell to Meralco in their next assignment before coming up with another huge victory over Philippine Cup semifinalist NLEX, 123-103.
The 20-point winning margin underscored the Dyip’s vast improvement in their level of play.
NLEX rookie Kiefer Ravena didn’t take the surprising defeat lightly.
“Syempre, nakakahiya. After the semis berth last conference, bigla kang tatambakan ng bente di ba? Plus may import pa, baligtad. So nakakahiya for us but tapos na yun,” said Ravena.
“Hindi naman sa pagiging overconfident pero siguro yung mindset na nasa bakasyon pa and mindset na parang nagko-coast pa. Lahat naman kami doon at fault. So kami, kailangan lang namin is ayun, okay na, wake up call. 20 points. If that can’t wake you up, what will? For us, we start practice tomorrow, forget about this,” added the 24-year old neophyte out of Ateneo de Manila University.
