Mac Belo happy to have delivered Blackwater’s first back-to-back wins to start the season

Blackwater is off to its best start in franchise history and prized rookie Mac Belo is arguably the biggest reason

The 6-foot-4 Belo came through with another brilliant offensive performance on Sunday night when the Elite shocked the Meralco Bolts 86-84 for their second straight victory and a hold of the solo lead in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Virtually a non-factor in the first half, Belo came alive after the break as he banged in 21 of his new pro league career-best of 25 points, including 12 in the final frame, to help Blackwater shock Meralco and gain a fitting follow-up to a 94-87 win over Phoenix Petroleum last Wednesday.

Belo, humble as ever, refused to bask solely under a familiar limelight.

“Siyempre ‘yung win (ang highlight) kasi first time ng Blackwater mag-back-to-back (wins to start the season). Masaya ako na naibigay namin at part ako ng team na nakapagbigay nu’n,” he said. – FOX Sports Asia
