Mahindra hopes to get the much-needed inspiration from playing coach Manny Pacquiao, who will more likely be playing for the back-against-the-wall Floodbuster on Sunday against the Alaska Aces at the Philsports Arena.
The 5-foot-6 Pacquiao has been activated from the injured-reserve list in lieu of veteran guard Ryan Arana.
Lead assistant coach Chris Gavina said Pacquiao, who has been busy attending to his duties as a Philippine senator, has yet to practice with the team. But they expect the Filipino boxing icon to be in shape nonetheless.
“Yeah, he’s (Pacquiao) activated, and there’s a high probability that he’ll play tomorrow, and that would be an added motivation for the team,” Gavina told FOX Sports on Saturday.
Although Pacquiao wasn’t able to join the team’s practice at all since the start of the PBA Philippine Cup, Gavina expects the players to work on their “contingency plan” should the Mahindra playing coach see action against the Aces at 4:15 p.m. – FOX Sports Asia
