Chris Newsome and Arinze Onuaku led a steady Meralco game as the Bolts added to the NLEX Road Warriors’ woes with a 106-90 victory in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday night.

Newsome poured in 30 points while Onuaku collected 23 rebounds and 15 markers for the Bolts who jumped to a 12-point lead in the first quarter then maintained a safe lead all the way through.

Mike Tolomia, Baser Amer, Anjo Caram and Jared Dillinger also did fine jobs to help the Bolts to a second win in three starts.

Tolomia had a remarkable off-the-bench effort, coming through with 15 points and four rebounds just in 15 minutes of action.

The Bolts asserted themselves on defense right at the start, thus, limiting the Road Warriors to only 12 points in the first quarter.

The scores:

Meralco 106 – Newsome 30, Onuaku 15, Tolomia 15, Dillinger 10, Amer 10, Caram 10, Hodge 7, Canaleta 5, Baracael 4, Ballesteros 0, Hugnatan 0.
