Meralco cruised to a 102-75 victory over Blackwater and formalized its entry into the quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
An energized Arinze Onuaku came through with a double-double of 17 points and 17 rebounds, while four others finished in double figures for the Bolts, who improved to 6-2 overall for a tie with TnT Katropa at third place in the standings.
The Bolts also stretched their win streak to three games and kept themselves in the running a top 2 finish by the end of the eliminations.
And it can’t get any better for the Bolts as they will face the Alaska Aces next, followed by TnT, and finally Rain or Shine.
The win over Blackwater, somehow was a good preparation for Meralco as it goes to a brutal stretch of its campaign in the elimination round.
Blackwater continued to languish in the cellar with a 1-9 record.
