Meralco came out a solid lot from the All-Star break and withstood Justin Brownlee’s triple-double game to mark another PBA comeback as the Bolts topped the Barangay Ginebra Kings, 93-82, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the MOA Arena in Pasay City Friday night.
Arinze Onuaku delivered 24 points and 23 rebounds in a double-double game complemented well by Chris Newsome, Jared Dillinger and Anjo Caram as the Bolts bounced back from a loss to the Magnolia Hotshots the last time out and firmed up their hold of a spot in the Top Four with a fourth win against two losses.
The Bolts got off to a strong start and played steadily all throughout to hand the Gin Kings a fourth loss against a lone win.
It’s a sorry loss for the Kings who were looking for a win and to build momentum for their crucial game against the San Miguel Beermen on Sunday also in the Pasay City playing venue.
