The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League is set to discuss the league format along with the guidelines regarding the recruitment of Fil-foreign players as it welcomes the 25 participating teams for the 2nd conference which is scheduled to kick-off on June 12.
The meeting between the league’s management committee and team representatives will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 7:00pm at the Ballroom 2 of Raffles Hotel in Makati City.
Teams will play 24 games each in the single-round robin elimination phase of the upcoming conference with the full season expected to last 10 to 11 months.
The MPBL opened its inaugural conference, dubbed the Anta Rajah Cup, last January 25 with 10 participating teams. Batangas copped the first-ever championship against runner-up Muntinlupa. The other pioneers are Valenzuela, Paranaque, Imus, Quezon City, Bulacan, Navotas, Caloocan and Bataan.
The expansion teams from Luzon are Makati, Manila, San Juan, Rizal, Laguna, Mandaluyong, Pampanga, Pasig, Pasay and Marikina.
Representing the South are Davao Occidental, General Santos, Zamboanga, Cebu, and Basilan.
