Phoenix head coach Louie Alas was on the receiving end of GlobalPort big man Kelly Nabong’s ire last night during his team’s final elimination game against the Batang Pier at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 54-year old first year coach of the Fuel Masters engaged Nabong in a word war right after the Fil-Am vehemently protested a non-call against Doug Kramer in the closing minutes of the 2nd quarter.
The play being contested by Nabong, who was still scoreless at that point, happened right in front of the Phoenix bench.
Sabi ko, ‘Ref, you have to control him.’ May sinabi siyang bad words sa akin. Sabi ko, ‘You picked the wrong guy, man.’
GlobalPort signed up the volatile Nabong even after the Meralco Bolts dropped him last season due to a public spat he had with assistant coach Jimmy Alapag.
