Paul Zamar was chosen by Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel in the 4th round of the 2012 PBA Rookie Draft, the same batch that produced 4-time MVP June Mar Fajardo and Calvin Abueva. Unfortunately, he was left unsigned.
Now, 6 years after his goal of playing in the PBA was derailed, the 30-year old son of San Miguel Beermen assistant coach Boycie Zamar is finally going to live his dream.
Blackwater Elite has signed up Zamar after his impressive stint in the ABL wherein he was one of the key factors of Mono Vampire’s scintillating run that ended in a Game 5 loss to Alab Pilipinas in the Finals.
Zamar made a good account of himself by submitting averages of 16.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists for the Thailand-based squad.
The Elite are mired in the bottom of the team standings with a 0-4 record and have just recently appointed Bong Ramos as the new head coach in lieu of Leo Isaac.
The 5-foot-11 guard out of UE will fortify the backcourt rotation of the Elite which currently boasts of Mike Cortez, John Pinto, Roi Sumang and Mark Cruz.
