PBA clarifies Narvasa stand on Jamito: He can join again but should show skills not antics

PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial clarified Commissioner Chito Narvasa’s earlier statement regarding barring Brgy. Ginebra rookie Jammer Jamito from participating in future editions of the league’s Slam Dunk Competition.

Narvasa apparently wasn’t amused at Jamito’s hilarious dunk attempt wherein he pretended he would dunk over teammate Japeth Aguilar but instead simply side-stepped on his way to a basic one-handed dunk. The Commissioner was quoted as saying, ‘Hindi na makakaulit sa akin yan’.

The crowd burst into a combination of cheers and laughter as Jamito was joined by Aguilar and another teammate LA Tenorio in celebrating after the dunk attempt that became so viral it was even featured in the NBA cable program ‘The Starters’.

Narvasa, Marcial explained, was willing to give Jamito another shot at the Slam Dunk Competition provided that he display his skills rather than resort to antics.

“Ganun lang talaga si Kume, very competitive lang talaga siya. But he’s not totally disbarring Jammer, he’ll just give him some fatherly advice’, said Marcial.
