The second coming of former Petron Blaze Boosters, now San Miguel Beermen, import Renaldo Balkman is getting closer to reality.
Balkman was penalized with a P250,000 fine and a permanent ban by then PBA Commissioner Chito Salud sometime March of 2013 after the volatile Puerto Rican native choked teammate Arwind Santos during a game. Santos was trying to pacify Balkman who was vehemently contesting a referee’s call when the incident happened.
The 6-foot-6 import, who is now playing for Alab Pilipinas in the Asean Basketball League, has been apologetic as of late and has reportedly submitted an appeal to the league applying for reinstatement.
League Commissioner Willie Marcial earlier released a statement that he was no problems lifting the ban, provided that Salud and Santos are amenable to it as well.
“Okay na kay Arwind. Mukhang positive na rin si comm. Chito,” replied Marcial when asked for an update regarding the status of the appeal which was also made possible through the efforts of Balkman’s agent Sheryl Reyes.
Marcial added that he will formally hold a meeting with Salud this week and once the go-signal is given, the ban will immediately be lifted.
