The PBA, through Commissioner Chito Narvasa, has released the medical certificate of June Mar Fajardo.

The report from VRP Medical Center was supposedly handed over by SMB Governor Robert Non.

Fajardo apparently suffered a strained calf muscle after faking off a defender and then going for a shot in the closing minutes of the hotly-contested SMB vs TNT match with the three-time MVP bagging Best Player of the Game honors after finishing with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks.

The doctor has advised Fajardo to take one week of rest, and another week of therapy. SMB’s premier center will then be re-evaluated after the said two-week period.

Despite the injury, Non said that Fajardo will still travel with the team to Lebanon and will observe the games, especially the ones featuring Australia as Gilas will face them in the World Cup qualifier scheduled on November this year.

Gilas will take on China in its first game on August 9, followed by Iraq on August 11 and Qatar on August 13.

Fajardo’s mother team, San Miguel, will take a break during the duration of the FIBA Asia Cup. They take on the GlobalPort Batang Pier on August 25, 7:00pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. – Victor Adea
