Consensus top pick Christian Standhardinger is excused from attending the PBA’s two-day Draft Combine for rookie applicants.

PBA director for external communications Willie Marcial relayed the news amid reports that the Fil-German is facing disqualification after snubbing Day 1 of the required activity.

“Matagal na nagpaalam kay com (Narvasa) sa email na di siya makakasama sa draft combine. Kaya alam na yan ni com,” Marcial said.

The 28-year old Gilas sensation even posted a message on his Instagram and Twitter accounts that read: “Hi guys, Everything is good! It is understood that I am officially under contract in Hong Kong, so I could not be at the PBA Draft Combine. My agent has already informed PBA officials in advance. Looking forward to seeing you all at Draft Day!”

Standhardinger is widely believed to go as high as number 1 in the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft scheduled on October 29 at Robinson’s Place Manila but is expected to miss the entire 2017-18 Philippine Cup due to a prior commitment with the ABL club Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions.
