San Miguel Beermen team captain Arwind Santos was fined a total of P25,000 by the PBA in the aftermath of Game 3 of their semis duel with Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel which the Gin Kings won 95-87.
The 36-year old Santos said during an interview with reporters after the game that it felt like the players had shadows, and that it was difficult to guard the opposing team because what was supposed to be only five was actually eight.
“Parang may mga shadow yung mga players kanina eh. Parang yung lima, nagiging walo kaya parang nahihirapan kami bantayan kasi lima lang yung kalaban, pero nagiging walo. Ewan ko kung sobrang bilis nila kaya may shadow. Parang ganun eh.”
The league slapped the 12-year veteran with a P20,000 fine for issuing statements against officiating which is deemed as detrimental while an additional P5,000 was imposed for his flagrant foul on Japeth Aguilar.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said that Santos was apologetic for his actions and that he was only carried away by emotions.
Game 4 of the series is scheduled on Thrusday, March 15, 7:00pm at the MOA Arena.
