PBA slaps P30K fine, 2-game suspension on Ronald Tubid for FFP2 on Chris Newsome

In a tweet by the PBA’s official Twitter account, the league announced that SMB’s Ronald Tubid has been slapped a P30,000 fine plus 2 games suspension by the Commissioner’s office for hitting Meralco sophomore Chris Newsome on the right eyebrow which resulted in a black eye during their game last Sunday night.

The incident happened during the 9:12 mark of the 4th quarter with the Beermen up by a solitary point 69-68. The verdict was initially a Flagrant Foul Penalty 1 but was alter on upgraded to FFP2 upon further review by the game officials. The debuting Beermen eventually won the game 99-92 to hand the streaking Bolts their first loss of the conference.

Tubid will miss SMB’s games this coming Friday (April 7) against Phoenix and Star on Sunday (April 16). – Mae Villarin
