Terrence Romeo was summoned by PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial after the star guard blasted the game official who called three successive violations on him during his debut game for the TNT KaKropa, Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 26-year old native of Imus, Cavite was whistled for back-to-back lifting violations before being called for a travelling violation with time down to less than 3 minutes in the final canto and TNT up by a comfortable 15-point margin over GlobalPort.
Romeo was immediately pulled out by coach Nash Racela after committing the turnovers.
During the post-game interview, Romeo blasted the official who called the violations.
“Siguro may nakikita yung referee na talagang nakikita niya siguro yung sa galing ibang planeta eh. Hindi ko alam kung ano, so siguro next time, mag-aadjust ako, kasi ewan ko kung saang planeta siya nag-referee before, eh wala akong magagawa,” said Romeo.
“Pero hindi bale, adjust na lang ako, sana maka-pasyal ako sa planeta nila next time,” he added.
Marcial said that the league’s technical committee is in the process of reviewing the contested calls and assured that there was to effort to single out Romeo who is known for his fancy and oftentimes excessive dribbling.
“Basta nag-rest ang bola during the course of the dribble, tatawagan talaga ng palming violation. Basta kung ano nakita, ‘yun ang itatawag ng mga referees natin,” explained Marcial.
