The Phoenix Fuel Masters, fresh from a recent conquest of the unconventional KIA Picanto, is said to be on the verge of purchasing the lock, stock and barrel of the team it just demolished via a score of 125-102 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo last Wednesday.

And according to the source who refused to be intentified, the first order of business once the impending sale is approved by the PBA Board is to overhaul the team.

“The first order of business for the PBA team is to make it competitive. There’s the need to protect the brand name and the only way to do that is to win games. Definitely, there will be a major overhaul if the sale pushes through,” said the source during an interview with INQUIRER.net shortly after the game featuring both teams.

The source added that discussions for the purchase has been going on for quite some time already and it will only be a matter of time before a deal is finalized.

However, the deal still needs the approval of the PBA Board before Phoenix can formally assume ownership of KIA’s PBA franchise.
