Rain or Shine bolsters bid for top 4 finish with 122-98 rout of Blackwater

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters closed its elimination round stint of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup on a high note with a 24-point assault of Blackwater Elite, 122-98.

J’Nathan Bullock took charge in Rain or Shine’s dominating performance in the second half as the 6-foot-5 forward fired a total 30 points to lead the way for the Painters. Aside from Bullock, five other players scored in double figures led by former Letran standout Raymond Almazan who scored 20 points.

Blackwater kept the game close initially as they limited Rain or Shine’s lead to just one-point at the end of the first half. Newly-acquired wingman Allein Maliksi top-scored for the Elite with 29 points while Henry Walker had 21. While the another newcomer in Dave Marcelo, who was acquired from a recent trade with Ginebra, failed to contribute in the scoring column for the Elite.

The Painters finished the elimination round with a 7-4 win-loss card and would have to wait for NLEX and San Miguel games as they take their foes on Sunday to determine their fate.

Blackwater, on the other hand, will have more work to do as they fell to 5-6 and ended up as the 8th ranked team.

The top-seed of the tournament will be facing them with a twice-to-beat advantage.
