Jay Washington fired two huge triples down the stretch to help Rain or Shine fend off the winless Blackwater Elite, 95-88, in their tight Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup clash on Sunday at Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Washington only scored six points but they came when it mattered, providing the separation Rain or Shine needed to continue its unbeaten start to three games.

After a Mav Ahanmisi triple tied the game at 87-all with 3:23 left, Washington followed it up with a booming corner trey off a Jericho Cruz dish with 2:46 remaining to give the Elasto Painters the lead.

As Blackwater Greg Smith split from the free throw line to trim their deficit to two points, Washington stunned the Elite once again with a three-pointer to push their lead to five, 93-88, with 1:41 left.

That was enough for Rain or Shine to turn back Blackwater which had led by seven points early before both teams engaged in a seesaw battle all throughout. – InterAksyon.com
