Game 4 of the 2018 Philippine Cup semifinal series between Brgy. Ginebra and defending champion San Miguel was attended by two of the most influential and recognizable figures in Philippine basketball, Robert Jaworski and Ramon Fernandez.
It was just unfortunate that the two went home disappointed.
The game wasn’t even close with the Beermen dominating the contest from start to finish. The Gin Kings hardly put up any semblance of a fight with only Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio scoring heavily for the team.
Prince Caperal, Scottie Thompson and Joe Devance formed the starting five alongside Aguilar and Tenorio but trio could only come up with a combined 6 points.
With the rest of the team misfiring, the Beermen cruised to a 102-81 rout and moved within a win of claiming the first Finals seat.
“It was a boring game. San Miguel wasn’t really playing well, it’s just that, Ginebra just played really bad. They could play better than that,” said Fernandez after the lopsided match.
“I like what I saw because San Miguel won, but I didn’t really enjoy the game that much. I would have enjoyed if it was a close game, two-point, three-point game or a one point game,” added the league’s first ever 4-time MVP.
Game 5 of the series is scheduled on Saturday, March 17, 6:30pm at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
