It’s now official.
Ray Parks, along with fellow Alab Pilipinas standouts Lawrence Domingo, JR Alabanza and Chris Sumalinog will take their acts to the Maharlika Pilipinas basketball League (MPBL).
This development was confirmed by Mandaluyong head coach Mac Cuan in a text message to Rey Joble of FOX Sports PH.
“It will be Ray Parks, Lawrence Domingo, JR Alabanza and Chris Sumalinog for Mandaluyong,” said Cuan.
“Inayos ko muna yung status ng Alab, so I can start building the pieces around them,” added the former DLSU Green Archer.
Parks is coming off an impressive stint in the ASEAN Basketball League, leading Alab Pilipinas to its first-ever title and in the process winning the Local MVP award for the 2nd straight year. The 25-year old son and namesake of PBA legendary import Bobby Ray Parks, Sr. was also named as the Finals MVP.
Domingo, for his part, was also a revelation for the Philippine squad in the recently concluded ABL season. The 6-foot-5 Fil-Am posted averages of 9.8 points and 6.9 rebounds and was instrumental in the team’s conquest of Mono Vampire in the Finals.
Alabanza and Sumalinog are likewise expected to provide quality minutes for the expansion team which will carry the moniker ‘El Tigre’.
