The San Miguel Beermen have added another key piece to their already vaunted front court rotation by acquiring volatile big man Kelly Nabong from GlobalPort.
The defending champions sent 36-year old Gabby Espinas plus the team’s 2nd round pick in the 2020 PBA Rookie Draft to the Batang Pier for the mercurial forward who was ejected during the team’s game against Phoenix for incurring a technical and a flagrant foul.
Nabong finished the game with a solitary point after going 0 of 4 from the field. He, however, had 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 21 minutes of action in what turned out to be his farewell performance for the Mikee Romero-owned squad.
The 29-year old Fil-Am will suit up for his 3rd team in the league after Meralco and GlobalPort while Espinas will mark his return to the same team where he had a brief stint in 2015.
The trade was the second one in 3 days for GlobalPort which also sent rookie Julian Sargent to Brgy. Ginebra for seldom-used forward Paolo Taha.
The league announced the deal through its Twitter account.
