Rain or Shine and GlobalPort figured in an intense, fight-marred match that resulted in 2 players getting ejected and 1 having a busted lip.

The first incident happened during the 6-minute mark of the final quarter.

Stanley Pringle went up for a shot and Malcolm White jockeyed for the rebound against Chris Tiu. White jumped first and his left elbow landed squarely on Tiu’s face. The Rain or Shine guard fell down from the impact and placed his hand on his mouth. The play went on and the GlobalPort reinforcement was able to score off a putback.

Tiu spit out blood and ended up with a busted lip. He got up and tried to confront White but the two were kept apart by cooler heads.

The second one happened during the 3-minute mark of the same period.

Sean Anthony missed on a close-range attempt and a scramble for the loose ball immediately ensued. Beau Belga was able to secure the leather but Anthony pounced on the burly Rain or Shine center and tried to wrestle the ball out of his hands. Maverick Ahanmisi came to the rescue and shoved Anthony out of the way. Kelly Nabong did the same thing to Ahanmisi and it triggered a near free-for-all.

Game and venue officials were able control the situation and prevent things from further escalating. The match continued without Ahanmisi and Nabong who were both thrown out of the game for fighting.

Another incident happened with less than a minute left on the clock.

White wasn’t able to control the inbound pass from Nico Elorde and as he landed, Raymond Almazan hit him hard with his left upper arm. White tried to confront Almazan but Rain or Shine import Reggie Johnson stood in the way. Almazan walked away and taunted White by placing his finger under his nose. The referees didn’t call anything on the play.

The two continued to trade barbs after the game and even challenged each other to a fist fight.

PBA Commissioner Wilie Marcial said that he will summon all those involved, including the three referees who officiated the game, right after the PBA All-Star Week.

Marcial bared that at least one referee is sure to be suspended.
