Brgy. Ginebra guard Scottie Thompson doesn’t believe that fatigue played a key role in the team’s loss to defending champion San Miguel in the opening game of the semifinal round of the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup, Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings, who played for the fourth time in 8 days including a triple overtime game exactly a week ago, weren’t able to keep in step with the Beermen and hardly put up any semblance of a fight to absorb their first defeat of the series.
“Although nafee-feel namin yung fatigue, it’s not an excuse pa rin,” said the 24-year old product of the University of Perpetual Help.
Thompson pointed to the Beermen’s aggressiveness and firepower as the deciding factor for Game 1 of the best-of-seven series.
“Wala akong masabi. Talagang aggressive sila simula hanggang huli. Talagang ang dami nilang weapons,” added Thompson who finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 4 turnovers in the loss.
Game 2 of the series is scheduled on Sunday, March 11, 6:30pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
